[New Feature] Display Product Recommendations Filtered by Profit Margin

display product recommendations by profit margin

Now display product recommendations by profit margin.

Personalized product recommendations are typically displayed based on a visitor’s browsing behavior, product interests and preferences, and other parameters that indicate what they want to purchase or are interested in purchasing.

The sequence in which the products hence get displayed are consumer-driven.

While that’s a good thing, it may not entirely be the best for your profit margin!

Imagine recommending a product that gets you the highest profit margin at the end of the widget scroll – the visitor is the least likely to discover it!

That’s why we’re giving you control.

You can now choose to display product recommendations filtered by margin in all our widgets.

Introducing – Display product recommendations in descending order of profit margin.

What does descending order of profit margin mean?

It means displaying the product that gets you the highest margin from the selling price first, and then consecutively showing the next set of products moving to a lower value of margin. So the products are arranged in such a way that the product with the largest value of margin gets displayed first to the lower margin product displayed at the end.

Here’s an example of the same:

Why should you arrange product recommendations in descending order of profit margin?

After running several A/B tests on how consumers interact with product recommendations, we found that more than 50% of visitors click on the first item.

We also found that an increasing number of people choose to ‘feel’ that this product is the ‘best suited’ for them, making them more likely to purchase it.

Simply put, this feature in the WISER product recommendation app leverages consumer psychology to drive the desired action from a visitor.
